#iwill Fund, Department for Culture, Media & Sport, Lottery Funded

Swale Young People is pleased to announce that the 2nd Swale Youth Conference will be partly funded by the #iwill fund, which itself is funded by £20 million of investment from the Big Lottery Fund and the Department for Culture, Media & Sport, to support young people to access high quality social action opportunities.

Swale Youth Conference is Kent’s only youth sector conference, and is planned and delivered by young people from across the Swale Borough. On the day, a range of professionals and young people will be in attendance, as well as delivering debates and sessions.

The 2018 conference comes after the success of our debut conference in January, held at Kent Science Park and sponsored by U+I PLC. Speakers included Gordon Henderson MP, Jack Parsons, CEO at Yourfeed, Laura-Jane Rawlings of Youth Employment UK and Patrick Cantellow, 18-year-old CEO of Swale Young People.

Speaking at the last conference Sarah Palmer from Fulston Manor School said, “It really was a fantastic day and your panellists were superb.”

Dave Boulding, SATEDA, said “The topics covered were fascinating and the discussions highlighted some really thought provoking and helpful stuff, especially when it came from the young person’s point of view”.

Patrick Cantellow, CEO of Swale Young People said, “Wow! It’s an honour for our conference to be partiality funded by the #iwill fund, as an Ambassador for the campaign I have the opportunity to present the double benefit of social action, which develops the skills and knowledge of young people that employers look for.”

New for 2018, Swale Youth Conference will be introducing themed tracks, more sessions and a track just for young people. Also new is the Swale Youth Conference app, available for iPhone and in the Play Store, will includes live updates, delegate to delegate private messaging, schedules and more.

Lastly, Swale Young People would like to pass on a huge thanks to James and the team at Kent Community Foundation who has helped us achieve this funding.
